Description
Silver repoussé. Tibet, 18th - 19th cent.
An especially ornately designed gau with very high relief presenting a floral bordered many-armed deity on a lotus base. In the upper corners are the sun and moon. Below left is a lion. It is indicated that the figure presumably depicts the bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, also shown by the particular constellation with sword and trident. Right below is the yogini Gita. A five-leafed bodhisattva crown on the head, curved halo with delicate pattern, either in flames or resp. appears to be vajra pincers.
Size 7,8 x 6,7 CM
From the former collection of Heinrich Harrer
