Description
Colours and some gold on paper. India, Rajasthan, Jaipur around 1800
Very amusing scene – the small Krishna (as the boy Balakrishna) by the butter churn from which he stole. Two twice as large, luxuriously dressed dames behind him; the one at the front is his mother Yashoda, who will bind him to the churn as punishment. The other dame carries a golden vessel on the head and jewelry chains in the hands. The dark-blue Krishna is an incarnation of the high god Vishnu. Medium condition consistent with its age, minor faults.
PICTURE 16 x 10,3 CM, PAGE 20,5 x 14,6 CM
From a Rhenish collection
