Description
Silver, iron, bronze, copper. There are hardly records in Burma of early forms of currency in Thailand due to the complete fire destruction of Ayuddhya. Tikal was in use from 14th cent. 1860, when the first coin stamping machines from England were introduced. They had very different forms. As in China bronze, silver was used as currency metal in Thailand. Only the smallest coins were copper.
FLOWER and PIG MOUTH MONEY
Silver colored alloy of copper, silver and tin. The simplest early Thai currency form in the border region to Laos. One differentiales here between the so-called flower money, as well as the silver shell - or pig mouth money. The lacquer-like red brown surface is supposed to be burned egg yolk. The surface is partially cracked on larger objects.

SYCEE or YUAN-BAO OR YINDING
Silver alloy. The so-called packsaddle currency came from areas where Chinese merchants were influential. It was issued by Chinese banks.

FLOWER MONEY
Alloy of tin, lead and tin addition. Cambodia and Thailand. The so-called flower money comes from the Hindu Empire of the Khmer and was used 9th-14th cent.

TIKAL - BULLET COINS
Silver currency with stamps.The origin of tikal in old Thailand is unknown, the stamp can be dated with certainty since 14th cent. These coins might have been used since approx. 16th cent.

LARIN
Rare wire money (also fish-hook or hairpin money) in the form of bent silver wire stamped with unusual Arabic script characters. Used from 16th to beginning 18th cent. by Asian coastal nations along the Persian Gulf of the Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean.
