Description
Shakudo and gold. Japan, 19th cent.
Fine, harmonious and aesthetically crafted work! Beginning with the delicate shakudo, the black blue tone in contrast to the gold. Mokkogata form with ryohitsu, bordered edge. Both hitsu are enclosed in gold, each covering with nekogaki design ("cat scratches"). The composition includes sakura blossoms (cherry) and underneath (as if one would look down on a river from the shore with blossoming cherry trees) are two rafts.
