Description
Performed by Members of the Purcell Operatic Society May 1900 and March 1901, plates, 6 woodcut plates and decorations by Edward Gordon Craig, one plate (not woodcut) torn and repaired, signed and inscribed by Craig to Mr. & Mrs Stern on front free endpaper and with their bookplate on front pastedown, also Curt & Lilli Sobernheim and Butler bookplates, original cloth-backed grey printed boards, a little rubbed, mostly spine ends and corners, [F & R J5(a), variant binding], Priory Press, St.John's Square, Clerkenwell, 1901. Dido and Aeneas was revived in 1901 and put on at the Coronet Theatre in Notting Hill Gate, along with a new production, The Masque of Love , and Ellen Terry in Nance Oldfield . Fletcher & Rood describe the binding as wrappers.
