Description
circa 1860. exhibiting rich alkaline glaze on well-formed body with molded facial features and kaolin eyes and teeth. with well-placed facial features. H7 1/4" W6" D6 1/2" Note: This face vessel is a recent discovery and is only the seventh known Edgefield face pitcher to date. Excellent condition with only a small flake to rim less than 1/16".
Condition
Black light indicates no restoration. Very good condition with only small flake to interior rim as seen in photograph. Wear to base is consistent with age. Glazed skips and runs characteristic with the wood fired alkaline glaze of the Edgefield District. Overall very good condition.
