Description
Frozen: the appearance of a Fukagawa Nakamachi geisha in the Tempo era, No. 11 from the series: Thirty-Two Aspects of Women
An attractive young geisha raises her umbrella against a snowstorm as she makes her way to work in the eastern section of Edo. She wears three layers of kimono against the cold, the outer robe appropriately patterned with a hail design. A charming print with a sense of the cold blowing wind as her robes billow in the breeze and wisps of her fly about her face. A lovely portrait of a spirited beauty, nicely detailed with embossing in the white kimono collar.
