Description
Yamashiro, Flowers of Kinkaku-ji, Princess Yuki, No. 30 from the series: Snow, Moon, Flowers
Beautiful woodblock print from the famous tale of Princess Yuki, who was tied to a cherry tree in the gardens of the Golden Pavilion in Kyoto. She drew a mouse in the soft dirt with her toe, and it came to life and multiplied, chewing through the ropes and freeing her. A shower of flower petals falls over her as the mice scamper about her feet, Kancho Waterfall crashing in the background. The dragon peering over the top of the image taught Princess Yuki's father the secret of painting. Nice embossed detail in the white kimono trim. A lovely scene that would make a handsome framed presentation.
