More About Robert Guthrie: "Robert Guthrie is a local artist with a fresh look at historic New Orleans. His distinctive styles have been featured in solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States, Mexico and France. Two years teaching serigraph printing at the Bellas Artes Institute in Central Mexico left him profoundly influenced by the regional aesthetic. In 1992 Robert was selected as the artist for the Official New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival Poster and in 1999 as an official designer for Les Rendez-vous D’Lerdre in Nantes, France. Guthrie enjoys working in two distinct styles, thus keeping both him and his art fresh. He finds the fluid radiance of watercolor well suited to the charismatic wash of lines and light intrinsic to the French Quarter. While these pieces are prized for what Guthrie refers to as the medium’s “looseness,” his other predominant style – bold, graphic print work – possesses a dynamic exactness that meets joie de vivre head-on. His creations appear throughout New Orleans on canvases, posters, walls, banners, and murals." Gallery Rinard
