in-4° grande (394x250 mm); legatura coeva in piena pelle marrone, dorsi a sei nervi con titoli in oro su tasselli in pelle rossa e ricchi fregi impressi e dorati ai comparti, guardie marmorizzate e tagli rossi; 2 vol.; il 1° vol., datato 1732, è composto dal Tomo I e II ed il 2° è un supplemento, datato 1740, anch'esso suddiviso in due tomi; pp. vol. 1 tomo 1: (8), 424, (2 c. di tavv.); tomo 2: (2), 400, (8 c. di tavv.); vol. 2 (supplement) tomo 1: (8), 496 (i.e. 490 - infatti le p. 137-138, 227-228, 403-404 mancano nella num.), (1 c. di tavv.); tomo 2: (2), 482 (i.e. 488 - infatti le p. 71-72, 196-197 sono ripetute nella num), (1 c. di tavv.); 12 incisioni su rame f.t. di cui alcune doppie ripiegate, numerosissime incisioni nel testo, testate, capilettera e finalini incisi. Frontespizi a caratteri rossi e neri. Testo su due colonne. Dedica dell'opera a Monseigneur Lieve Geelvinck, con bellisima incisione f.t. nel vol. 1, con stemma nobiliare della famiglia e stemma di Amsterdam.

Ed. n. 3 di questa prestigiosa opera, stampata per la prima volta nel 1709 a Lione, che tratta principalmente di economia domestica e rurale, agricoltura, gastronomia, enologia, ecc.. Molte figure sono dedicate alla distillazione, alla caccia, all'uccellagione ed alla pesca.

Texte sur 2 col., titres en rouge et noir, illustrée de nombreuse figures gravées + 12 planches hors-texte, reliure en plein-cuir, dos à nerfs avec 6 fleurons doré, frotté, coiffe légèrement déchirée, reliure usée. Rangés par ordre alphabétique, cette encyclopédie très populaire au XVIIe siècle comprend d'innombrables remèdes et conseils pratiques pour la vie de tous les jours aussi bien en campagne qu'en ville. Surtout cette édition conserve quelque valeur par rapport aux fig. dont elle est ornée (Brunet).

With 12 full-page copperplates and several textual copper engravings. Titlepage printed in red and black. Bound in 2 cont. full leather bindings richly decorated with gold on spines. Third edition with the supplement in 2 volumes which often misses. The first edition was printed in Lyon in 1709. This edition is decorated by numerous and beautiful wood-cut about distillation, botany, hunting, fishing and pisciculture. There is a lot of subjects in this dictionary: agriculture, botany, gardening, farmyard, breeding, hunting, fishing, bee-keeping, vineyard, vine, wine, plantation, cutting, care, economy, medicine, various trade secrets. Nice copy.

Opera in buone condizioni generali, fatti salvi alcuni difetti restaurabili (all'esterno: legature lente con cerniere molto usurate, spellature ai piatti e mancanze ai dorsi, in particolare alle cuffie, graffi, bordi ed angoli consumati; all'interno: guardia libera e frontespizio del vol. 1 slegati, presenza di macchie d'umido, qualche rossore, bruniture e fioriture dovute al tipo di carta).
Good condition, except for some restorable defects (binding a bit loose, with hinges very worn, peeling and scratches at boards, slight loss at spines and at spine-ends, worn edges and corners; inside: free-leaf and title-page of vol. 1 untied, presence of water stains and occasional soiling, some redness, brownings and foxing, due to the type of paper).
