Alex Katz (AMERICAN, 1927)
Alex Katz was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1927. Between 1946 and 1949 he studied at the Cooper Union in New York, after which he studied at the renowned Skowhegan School of painting and sculpture in Maine for a year. In 1954 the Roko Gallery in New York held the first solo exhibition of his work. In 1974 the Whitney Museum of American Art organized a travelling exhibition of Alex Katz’s prints. Since then his works has been exhibited around the globe and featured in prominent private and public collections.
