Amer has said that she believes all women should like their bodies and use them as "tools of seduction." This highly erotic watercolor, with two women, pleasuring each other challenges the traditional roles of women in Muslim countries.

Ghada Amer (EGYPTIAN, 1963)

Ghada Amer is a contemporary artist who resides in New York City. Her work deals with issues of gender and sexuality. She is interested in the female nude in art history as an object of male desire. Her most famous works involve embroidered paintings of women's bodies. Works by Amer are in numerous international museum collections, including the Museum of Modern Art; the Tel Aviv Museum; the Centre Pompidou and the Museum Kunst Palast.
