Mexican Maskmaker, [20th Century]. "Mexican Mask [Traditional - 0147]. Toro Mask, State of Guanajuato [Mexico]". Hand-carved, hand-painted polychromed natural hardwood sculpture with natural bull horns and leather ears and tongue. 1960s. A "danced" mask. Not made for the tourist trade or for sale, but created by the indigenous person to be used only in a ceremonial dance. Overall condition good. Provenance: From a highly important private collection, consisting of over 2,000 masks, Mexico City. Approx. 24in high, 18in wide, 9in deep (610mm x 457mm x 229mm). MO Inv #MA0102.
