Description

Southern School, "African American Woman with a Bun Hairdo," 20th c., oil on board, framed, H.- 17 1/2 in., W.- 13 3/8 in.

Condition

Condition consistent with age and use. An approximately 4 inch vertical crease is noted in the center at the top of the painting, ending at figure’s forehead. Canvas is slightly visible in several areas throughout painting. Painting is loose from the frame, and the top edge is seen with small losses and fraying to the top left corner. Possible inpainting is observed in figure’s hair. A lovely portrait.
