Description

Fine portrait of Queen Victoria by Edmund Thomas Parris 1793-1879. Oil on wood panel. Original drawing for these paintings is 1837 after the first painted for the crown, he painted a few others in smaller format. This one painted in 1838., "Queen Victoria in Royal Box at Drury Lane Theatre". Highly detailed, with fan, music box, ermine cape and cuffs, royal jewels. Superb condition with some alligatoring to paint particularly in lower red. Painted from life resulting in the Queen endowing him a court painter. In original fine walnut crotch grained frame, the painting is with long sealed original backboards. 18 inches x 20 1/2 inches.
