This wonderfully detailed antique etching is pencil-signed by the artist Ernest Christian Rost (1866-1940). It has a great 19th Century look and the view is calm and inviting. There is also a charming remarque of a tree in the lower margin. It is a great example of pastoral etchings which were popular decorations for homes in the late 19th Century. Overall size = 23"x33" It is newly matted, and installed back into the original dark walnut wood frame . The frame is unusual, with rounded corners. The glass is original (1890's) and has appropriate bubbles and imperfections. The print has mild discoloration from its old mat. The frame has a few small and unobtrusive dings. Item ID: 4217AUT2
