Description
Italian early 19th century inlaid oval table with removable top as well as a shelf below. Black ebony background with satinwood inlay of horn and berry and leaf on lid with bronze handles. Wide walnut burl band surrounds as well as bronze upright fretwork along the outline of the top. All four sides have floral inlay of satinwood in rectangular display surrounded by the beautiful burl. Ornate bronze thin bands along the top and bottom of the apron in 4 sections vertically around the apron sides as well as mounts below the apron on the high cabriole legs and at the knees. Bottom shelf also inlaid with floral satinwood as a distinct contrast to the surrounding ebony. Same ornate banding along the outline of the shelf. Bronze mounts on all four feet--one has been replaced over the years-not quite matching but not noticeable as is antique as well. Large enough to hold a lamp or decorative pieces with deep storage ,3 1/2D storage -4 to top of fretwork. The legs are painted black over walnut with minor wear to the paint over the years from use as to the rest of table. Exceptional condition overall and stable. Measures 31.25 H X 18 L X 13 D.
