Description
Late 16th century AD. A cast flat-section openwork buckle brooch with flat pin attached to a lateral recess; the brooch formed as a heart (charity) with inverted anchor (hope) below and trefoil cross (faith) at the inner apex, surmounted by a crown; to the reverse, stamped maker's mark 'CP'. 3.11 grams, 34mm (1 1/4"). Property of a Buckinghamshire collector, by descent from the vendor’s father in 1997, who formed his collection in the 1970s-1980s.
