A well preserved fossil fish Diplomystus sp. on shale, with a second, less well preserved Diplomystus at the bottom of the specimen, with the collector's label 'Fish, Diplomystus, Eocene, c. 48-55 million years old, Green River Formation, Sweetwater County, Wyoming, USA'. 321 grams, 18.5cm (7 1/4"). Ex Bernard C. Pickard collection, Hampshire, UK. Diplomystus is an extinct genus of freshwater fish distantly related to modern-day extant herrings, alewives, and sardines. [No Reserve]
