US Springfield Model 1864 trapdoor cadet rifle. The lock plate properly engraved with an eagle with shield to its breast and stamped 1864 US SPRINGFIELD, serial number 2458, 29.5"L round barrel with front and flip up adjustable rear sight, steel trigger guard, steel butt plate stamped US, two solid oval bands, steel ramrod, total length 48.75". Some light surface rust to metal parts, pitting to butt plate, walnut stock has minor press marks, scratches. Overall very good condition in good working order.
