AutographsThree Original Hand-drawn And Signed Comic Strips
MERRILL BLOSSER, G. E. BATCHELDER, and CHARLES KUHN, American Cartoonists.
1. This original, hand-drawn, three panel cartoon from the daily comic strip “Freckles & His Friends”, measuring 5.5” x 16.5”, has an Autograph Signature, “Blosser”, and is Choice Extremely Fine. This particular cartoon was originally run in July 1964, as dates on the front and back attest. Afterwards Blosser apparently sent this original strip to a friend and added a handwritten greeting “With Best Wishes To Ken Feller.” The subject of this cartoon concerns camping out. The Freckles & His Friends comic strip first appeared in 1915.
2. Original, undated, pen and ink drawing, Inscribed and Signed, “G. E. Batchelder”, 7” x 6.25”, Choice Very Fine. The drawing depicts a man, perhaps “Uncle Sam”, wearing a top hat labeled “U. S.”, and smoking a cigar, whose smoke is labeled “Economy.” Below the drawing is the quotation “What this country needs is a good five cent cigar - Tom Marshall.” To the right is the handwritten inscription “For Ken Feller, with the best wishes of this cartoonist - G. E. Batchelder.” The drawing is done on the back of a letter or memo which has been crudely attached to a piece of cardboard.
3. Original, hand-drawn, 3 panel comic strip, from the comic, “Grandma”, Autograph Signed, twice, once as “Chas. Kuhn” inside the panel, and again outside the panel, with inscription “To Kenny Feller - with best wishes, Chas. H. Kuhn”, 7.5” x 24”, Choice Extremely Fine.
In addition, there is a typed letter to Feller, sent with the comic strip panel, which has the Autograph Signature, “Chas. H. Kuhn”, 6.75” x 5.5”, also Choice Extremely Fine.
