Description
Spanish 17th/18th century painting “Immaculate Conception”Artist: UnknownSignature: NoneMedia: Oil or Tempera ( not sure ) on burlap (unframed)Dimensions: Approximate dimensions for the unframed painting are 67 cms in width by 77 cms in height. The scene and central figure depicted in the painting is the Virgin Mary at the Immaculate Conception. Similar painted scenes of the Virgin have been known by various titles as “Woman of the Apocalypse” which is a reference to Chapter 12 in the Book of Revelation, “Virgin of Guadalupe”, Mary’s Assumption into Heaven” and “Queen of Heaven”. This painting of Blessed Virgin Mary has been interpreted by many important artists including Peter Paul Rubens, Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, Raphael, Francisco Pacheco and Spanish Baroque artist Bartolomé Esteban Murillo (b. 1617 - d. 1682).Very nice piece that would look beautifull once it is retaurated and put into a frame.
