Similar painted scenes of the Virgin have been known by various titles as “Woman of the Apocalypse” which is a reference to Chapter 12 in the Book of Revelation, “Virgin of Guadalupe”, Mary’s Assumption into Heaven” and “Queen of Heaven”. This painting of Blessed Virgin Mary has been interpreted by many important artists including Peter Paul Rubens, Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, Raphael, Francisco Pacheco and Spanish Baroque artist Bartolomé Esteban Murillo (b. 1617 - d. 1682).Very nice piece that would look beautifull once it is retaurated and put into a frame.
