17 Antique Law Books From Henry Clay's Library,seventeen books of condensed Supreme Court cases, approximately 400 pp. each, 8 vo., leather covers, 1840s, cases of the late 1820s and 1830s compiled by Peters (12), Smede (2), and Wheaton (3), a tooled leather plate reading "Henry Clay" is on the spine of eleven books, two books were additionally signed "Henry Clay" on the front end paper, however the signatures are probably not Clay's; Note: while not marked "1st Edition", these books are not copies and original to the period. an incredible trove of Americana covering legal decisions during the tumultuous years leading up to the Civil War, these books are certainly enhanced by their association w/Clay 9.25"h x 6"w fair w/foxing, worn covers, loose binding, etc. "as-is"
