The Paul Evans Coffee Table is comprised of a welded and enameled sculptural steel base. The polychrome surface and raised welded patchwork pattern is abstract in its decoration. The Brutalist base is completed by a rectangular glass top. The artist’s relationship with Directional Furniture of New York City helped to establish Evans as something more than a designer. Each piece was made by hand and supervised by Evans throughout each step of the production process. These pieces are highly sought after in today’s market as functional works of art by this important New Hope craftsman.
The coffee table, which is in very good condition, bears the welded signature of the artist. The base measures 15” x 37” x 18” and the glass top measures 48” x 24” (height x width x depth; width x depth).
