“Mint Error” 1942-S Cent Thin Planchet & Missing Letters 1942-S Lincoln Cent, Struck on a Very Thin Planchet, Extremely Fine. This unusual Lincoln Cent is struck on a thin bronze planchet of the correct 19mm size. Besides the thinner than normal planchet, several letters are missing from the center inscription on the reverse, including the letters O and N in the word ONE. Apparently there was not enough metal in the thin planchet to fully strike up the reverse. A rare and unusual error coin. ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
