Description
A lovely Colima-Jalisco female figure from West Mexico, ca. 300 BC ā 300 AD. This unusual example from the Jalisco border region blends traditional Colima styles with attributes more frequently seen on Ameca types. The deep red slip is highly burnished and the loincloth is painted with black and white stripes. The coif is boldly incised and the shoulder scarification is executed with large appliquĆ© pellets. In excellent condition, with strong paint and good mineral deposits.
