The ‘Strich Achter” on offer was restored some years ago by a collector. Restoration was only carried out on the bodywork of the vehicle and the interior remains untouched and exudes in a well preserved and patinated condition. This Mercedes was manufactured with a sunroof and red leather seats.

The series was in production until December 1976, although its successor the 123 model was available to dealers from January 1976, the reason for this is that there was a requirement for the ‘Stroke 8’ from the taxi industry. This parallel production is typical of Mercedes Benz and its predecessor the W110 was also temporarily constructed in parallel.

The timeless body shape with its clear design without the need of fashion accessories originated with the upper class models like the W108 & W109 of Paul Bracq. The W115 models all have four or five cylinders whereas the W114 Coupe has six. This classification stems from the fact that the W114 and W115 had a different front end, just as their predecessor series W110, W111 and the "tailfin" W112 did. The ‘Stroke 8’ is famous for its high reliability, which is why one sees so many more of them in the traffic in the present day than other newer less robust automobiles from alternative manufacturers.
