A Straits Chinese silver bowl and cover, indistinct stamped marks to base and cover, 19th century, with a bud finial to the double domed cover engraved with buildings, birds and a rat amongst trees, the eight lower dome panels and the eight base panels engraved with differing trees in urns, some blossoming, and with birds, animals and buildings, on a plain moulded foot, 27.5cm (6 7/8in) diameter, 719g (23.15 oz)"Please note: There is a possibilty that this piece was made in mainland China for the Straits Chinese market. Furthermore there is a possibilty that the marks may be for Bao Xing (Bao Hing), a Canton maker of circa 1860 to 1900, but they are poorly struck and are not sufficiently clear to fully verify."
