Description
A gold and polychrome enamel armorial badge, circa 1900, the white greyhound supporters with a central quartered red and white enamelled shield below a green dragon crest, the base with a blue ribbon inscribed with the motto Clementia Et Animis, the reverse with four loops for sewing onto clothing, 3.2cm long The quarters of the shield are identified as: 1 and 4 Maule; 2 De Valoni; 3 i and iv Barclay of Brechin, and ii and iii Wishart of Brechin. The armorial appears to be for the Baron Panmure, a title created in 1831 for the Scottish Lord William Maule, and extinct in 1874 after his son Fox Maule Ramsay died, although this badge appears to be later
