Description
A pair of emerald green satin and black leather shoes, circa 1780, the toes adorned with graduated cut-work 'butterflies' with white silk embroidered details, shaped white leather heels, 23cm, 9in long (2)
Condition
Generally good condition, a ribbon ruffle is missing from the front upper of one shoe, the black leather has discoloured to dark brown and there is crazing in the surface leather but no damage as such. 1st shoe – pinhead sized hole in black leather to one side, slight soiling to cream heel, green satin is creased at the sides, pinhead sized hole to one side, soles show signs of being worn, slight colour loss to the toe tip. 2nd shoe – creasing to satin sides, ivory leather heels have a slightly soiled appearance and an approx. 1cm diam stain, black leather areas are slightly rubbed along the sides above the sole and the toe tip, tiny split in ribbon binding centre front, soles show signs of use
