Description
A Chanel couture bias-cut black lace dress, circa 1929-30, labelled and numbered 12803, the front neck flounce forming a capelet over the scooped back, with criss-cross arching bands at the waist, integral belt, bust 92cm, 36in
Condition
Small break in lace on short ‘scarf’ panel at front left of bodice. Lace has large picot edging generally. Small break in lace to rear right waist area- minor. The lace is mounted onto tulle so breaks in the lace are very difficult to detect.
The tulle lining around the lower half of the skirt and hem area generally is torn and shredding but the exterior lace is generally good.
The crepe integral slip is edged is a differently patterned lace. It is all hand-overstitched. The neck and armholes have hand-rolled binding. The label has a stamped bolduc no.
The lace is in remarkably good condition- just the odd minor broken bride.
There is a 25cm by approx. 2cm repair along a hem edge but extremely well done and hard to detect.
