Description

A black satin ball gown, probably Madame Gres, circa 1946, un-labelled, the fitted bodice with deep armholes outlined in curved edging bands of black, pink and grey satin, the hem similarly edged, deep scooped back and narrow ties to rear neck, bust 86-92cm, 34-36in, waist 66cm, 26in A voluminous Madame GrÃ¨s black satin gown with striped banding to the hem was illustrated in 'Femina' November 1946 p215

Condition

Generally good condition, slight scuffing to the satin, waistline has been altered – lowered and I suspect it was taken in at bodice side seams too but very well done. Stitching is slightly different. Bodice lining is probably replaced too – again very well done. Slight soiling to hem area.
