Henry Perlee Parker (1795-1873), ''Morning on the beach, Coast of Northumberland'', signed and dated 1863 lower left, inscribed verso with title, oil on canvas, in a period gilt-composition frame. 75cm by 100cm Note: The picture is inscribed verso with the verse: Now frowning night in clouds retires The morn ascends the brightening sky A radient (sic) sun renews his fires And glows the East with golden dye The fisher girl in rustic dress Smiles at her Sire, his joys to share While he his pleasure does express To see such funny treasures there Note: The son of Robert Parker (1748-1830), the artist was born in Devonport, Devon. He later moved to Sunderland before eventually settling in Newcastle where he formed important relationships with Thomas Bewick, Thomas Miles Richardson and John Wilson Carmichael.
