Description
Cyprus, Early Bronze Age, Ca 2900 to 2000 BCE. Very attractive and large polished redware jug. With bulbous base, slightly thinning neck, wide sloping rim and angular handle. A two headed snake adorns the neck to each side of the handle. 10.50"W x 6.00"H (26.67 W x 15.24 H cm)
Provenance: Ex-Collection of William Dale. Mr. Dale was a career diplomat stationed in Turkey in the early 1960's and acquired a vast collection of Greek, Roman and Near-Eastern treasures.
