Syria, 450 to 600 CE. Very fine pottery oil lamp. Molded pottery with impressed floral decorations, human head emerging to form handle, palmette on underside. 3.88"L x 1.50"W x 2.00"H (9.84 L x 3.81 W x 5.08 H cm)
Provenance: Ex-Collection of William Dale. Mr. Dale was a career diplomat stationed in Turkey in the early 1960's and acquired a vast collection of Greek, Roman and Near-Eastern treasures.
