Charming historical document of Marilyn Monroe; photographs of the famous actress are still extremely sought after on the international art market
The present snapshot depicts a portrait of Marilyn Monroe using a powder puff. The picture was taken during the filming of ‘The Prince and the Showgirl’, in which Marilyn wore the present white dress with the beautiful pearl finishing. Marilyn was accompanied by Sir Laurence Olivier, playing Prince Charles. The movie was the only piece produced by Monroe’s and Milton Greene’s Production Company.
The gelatin silver print is verso fitted with the copyright stamp ‘HOLLYWOOD PHOTOGRAPHERS ARCHIVES […]’ and the label of the photo agency ‘Masi’. Besides the verso side shows a typographic label with an English inscription about the picture. The print is in good condition considering its age; the surface is only slightly creased under inspection from the side. The size of the image is 22.9 x 17.6 cm and the sheet measures 25.5 x 20.5 cm.
