ANTONIO CANOVA (1757-1822) (AFTER) VENUS VICTRIX. Marble sculpture; reproduction of Canova's famous sculpture of Napoleon's sister Pauline Bonaparte found in the Galleria Borghese, Rome H: 17" W: 22.5" D: 6.5" Condition: Overall condition is fair/good. Missing two fingers from hand that head is resting on. Other hand is perfectly intact. Big toe is missing from foot of lower leg. Other foot is perfectly intact. Head and face are in excellent condition. Draperies around body sustain dirt accumulation, as expected with age. Sustains a vertical crack along draperies immediately beneath torso. Lower bed in fair condition. Evidence of restoration to all three front swags. Front left leg sustains evidence of unprofessional restoration.Structurally sound.
