Second half 19th century, 257 x 218 cm, Central Asia, Uzbekistan
In this Suzani from Pskent, yellow bands divide the red field into five large octagonal compartments, each enclosing a floral star. Box shapes mark the points of intersection in the lattice. In Uzbekistan this type is known as "paliak", meaning "moon sky". A comparable Suzani is illustrated in the "Uzbek" catalogue. - Good condition, backed with canvas.
