Second half 19th century, 266 x 197 cm, Central Asia, Uzbekistan
A large Bokhara Suzani of the ruijo type - a ceremonial bedspread for the wedding night. The plain centre has been cut out, probably because the embroidery was destined for use as a door surround. The upper horizontal panel and lateral "arms" are decorated with large circular and fan-shaped blossoms encircled by green vines. - Good condition.
