Description
Late 19th century, 245 x 145 cm, South West Persia, Fars
Very fine in weave, this Qashqa'i kilim represents Darreh Shuri tribal weaving par excellence. Its visual effect derives from the tension between the empty blood-red surface of the field and the densely patterned border, composed of three bands of equal width and ornamentation - small diamonds - but different in colour. The characteristic border of reciprocal trefoils provides the outer finish of the kilim. - Very good condition.
