Rare collector’s piece from a bygone era
This replica of a KLM INTERCONTINENTAL DOUGLAS DC-8 on a scale of 1:100 was made around 1960 by the Dutch company Raise-Up, which had specialized in the manufacture of aircraft models. Their clients also include, besides KLM, Swissair, Lufthansa and Ethiopian Airlines. The Douglas DC-8 is a passenger jet aircraft of the Douglas Aircraft Company and was the first passenger jet, which reached supersonic speed. The aircraft shows the KLM Royal Dutch Airlines logo and stickers of the aircraft type ‘PH-DCJ’ on the wings. The model stands on the original foot of aluminum with the KLM logo and the model badge.
The plane is belabeled underneath with ‘MANUFACTURED BY 'RAISE UP' ROTTERDAM HOLLAND’. WORLD SALES AGENTS THE N. DEFLIPPERS COMPANY PLANE MODEL DEVISION NEW YORK N.Y. ‘ The plane shows clear traces of use and age with minor bumps, scratches and color loss. The length measures c. 92 cm and the wingspread is c. 92 cm.
