A large Egyptian basalt heart scarab, Late Period, c. 664 - 343 BC, schematically carved with head and legs in relief, the wing case striated with flat bottom. A nice example which would have been placed within the wrappings of the mummy. 2 3/8 in x 1 7/8 in x 1 ¼ in (6 x 4.8 x 3.3 cm). Mounted on a custom base. Ex Italian private collection.
