Description
A rare Inca wood kero from southern Peru, c. AD 1300 – 1500, nicely carved from a single piece of wood and decorated with a snake peering over the rim. A long crack in the side shows the remains of an ancient repair using thread near the rim. H: 6 in (15.2 cm), with minor insect damage and strong mineral deposits. Ex Halderman collection. Cf. Domingo Arqueologia Andina Peru, page 332, for similar from Madrid’s Museo de America.
