Beautiful Art Deco cabinet made of flamed Amboina burl wood

Jules Leleu's furniture are known for their outstanding quality. This elegant little cabinet is a typical design from the late Art Deco period. The S-shaped curved sidewalls which terminate in small volutes on top, give an interesting silhouette to the furniture. The flamed Amboina burl wood and the ivory knobs give a refined effect as it was particularly aimed in the French Art Deco.

The furniture is 113.5 cm tall and measures 40.5 x 30 cm. It is in very good condition with minimal age and wear.

Jules Leleu (1883-1961)

Jules Leleu was born in the French Boulogne-sur-Mer in 1883. He first studied decorative painting and at the age of 26 became the successor of his father's painting company. After the World War I Leleu began to specialize in the manufacturing of furniture and opened his own gallery in Paris. In 1924 and 1925 he participated in the ‘Exposition Industrial et Arts Decoratifs’ and was awarded a prize, followed by numerous commissions from prominent people and institutions for interior design.
