Jacques-Émile Ruhlmann was and is famous for his manual perfectly made furniture, which are signified through their elegant forms and balanced décor. His preference for exclusive materials like exotic woods, ivory, tortoiseshell or pearl, and his extraordinary sense for cautious and at the same time aesthetic composition let him become to the most important designer of the twenties. The presented mirror pedestal is made of noble Macassar-ebony. The circle round mirror glass will be pocketed. The plain design with soft curved lines and the gallant material are typical signs of Ruhlmann’s designs.
The pedestal measures 20,5 x 11,5 x 19,7 cm. The mirror has a diameter of 40 cm. The overall height is 44,5 cm. The stand is in very good condition with minor signs of age and usage. The mirror glass shows distinct signs of age and usage.
Jacques-Émile Ruhlmann (1979-1933)
Born in Paris, the interior architect and designer Jacques-Émile Ruhlmann began with the design of furniture in 1907. His career began in 1913. He received prestigious commissions, such as the decoration of the Elysee Palace. As well, his writing furniture for the Manik Bagh palace of the Indian Maharajah of Indore is particularly known.
