Just as it is the case with his furniture, Ruhlmann's ceramic works are also characterized by a high elegance. This bowl, made in cooperation with Jean-Jacques Lachenal around 1925, is characterized by its wonderful ivory glazed background, the inside shows a very appealing glaze painting.
The bottom of the bowl is signed 'Ruhlmann J.J. Lachenal'. It has a diameter of 23.5 cm and is in very good condition.
Jacques-Émile Ruhlmann (1979-1933)
Born in Paris, the interior architect and designer Jacques-Émile Ruhlmann began with the design of furniture in 1907. His career began in 1913. He received prestigious commissions, such as the decoration of the Elysee Palace. As well, his writing furniture for the Manik Bagh palace of the Indian Maharajah of Indore is particularly known.
Jean-Jacques Lachenal
Jean-Jacques Lachenal was the son of Edmond Lachenal, one of the pioneers of French art pottery. Hi early work is little known. In the second decade of the 20th century, he is said to have begun with objects in the Iznik style. In 1911, he went on an interesting series of vases and plates, which were painted by the designer Georges Feure. After that, he was inspired by the Cubist imagery.
