Description
Canada Dry Club Soda bottle with "Vice President of the United States" seal and "Bottled For The Honorable Lyndon B. Johnson" to front--These were bottled for Johnson as a gift in appreciation for his agreeing to be the keynote speaker at the Bottlers National Convention in Dallas in 1963. The 2400 glass bottles were made at Laurens Glass Works, Laurens, South Carolina, then bottled and capped at Canada Dry Bottling Company, San Antonio, Texas. Purportedly, Johnson planned to use these for a bar-b-que at his ranch that was cancelled due to President Kennedy's assassination. The new President Johnson ordered all the bottles scrapped. Even though most probably were destroyed, a few survived and are highly desired by bottle collectors today.
