*** Weight : 1# 4 oz. *** Measurements: 10.5 x 10.5 x .75 *** The AEAA is very pleased to present this handsome 1960s vintage Bavarian porcelain, 10.5 inch transfer Napoleon Bonaparte portrait plate, depicting the battle of Wagram in 1809. This fine Royal blue ground & heavily gilded banded sculpted rim plate features a transfer portrait from an original composition by Varnet in the 19th century. Our example carries a Green crown & shield stamp with S & T over a W, with Bavaria & Germany present. There is also a traditional German blue Bindenschild (Royal Vienna Beehive mark), dating back to the original According to the great fellows at Porcelain Marks & More (http://www.porcelainmarksandmore.com/) this is an unknown stamp from somewhere after the Korean War, yet apparently was a real German potter, as the mark falls short of the fallacious stamps index. Our Napoleon portrait plate is in excellent condition.
