Item Details
Description
The AEAA is extremely proud to showcase this next piece of highly valuable Green Uranium glass from the respected Loren (Butch) Morse collection. This lot represents a VERY RARE & gorgeous Series II Prod. Nr. 2824, Loetz ca. 1905-1909, spectacular top blown Bohemian Craquelle ovoid + inset handled glass milk pitcher, finished in the classic Moosgrun Krokodile (Moss Green Crocodile) finish. Actually, our stellar Loetz treasure qualifies as the Ultra Rare Moosgrün Verlaufend Engoptisch (continuous gradient {relief} optic) pattern. Our unique pitcher is in wonderful condition, with outstanding depth of color and pattern, plus perhaps only 15% or so of these exquisite pitchers were produced in the deep Moosgrun color. The handle radius will vary from pitcher to pitcher, and the rim features the traditional Bohemian flush ground, short radius spout. The total weight of our pitcher is 1# 12 oz. and measures 4 x 4 x 6.875 (nominally 7 inches) inches tall. Photos #9 & #10 validate our Loetz, but that example is pictured in the much more common Kristall Krokodil color. It is rumored that this pitcher was designed by Koloman Moser ca. 1903-1904. However, new documentation has shown that these are very likely pieces designed by Marie Kirschner (see Loetz/Series II by Jitka Lnenickova). These unique hand blown pitchers were made is several listed sizes: 130 mm (5 1/8 inch), 150 mm (~6 inches), 175 mm (~7inches) AS IS OURS, 200 mm (7 7/8 inches), and 224 mm (~8 3/4 inches). Loetz also made these in several colors: Kristall Krokodil, Kristall glatt ohne Ausguss, Kaiserrot glatt, Kristall Engoptisch, and the RARE Moosgrün Verlaufend Engoptisch. Our incredible pitcher is a must for any Loetz or antique Bohemian glass collection. xxxxxxxxxxxxx. Loren Morse was a respected family man and Vaseline collector, and his untimely passing a year ago was a blow to everyone. The Morse family gratefully appreciates your participation. xxxxxxxxxxxxx.
