Illustrated from numerous black and white photographs. 22.4x27.5 cm (9x11"), wrapper bound with stitching, with gilt decoration and - lettering, mounted photograph printed on paper, on front panel. Second Edition.
A beautiful collection of portraits of Native Americans and their reservations including Peo Chief of Umatillas, Columbia River Medicine Man, Umatilla Reservation, among others. Lee Moorhouse was a photograpter and Indian Agent for the Umatilla Indian Reservation; he produced thousands of images from 1888 to 1916. In addition to the Moorhouse images, there are stories and poetry such as the "The Medicine Mad" and "Sacajawea".
Condition
Rips and tears to wrappers and a few pages; darkening of title page; very good.
